Software Web Developer

Job Summary:

As a member of our highly motivated Software Engineering team at Viryl, the Web Developer will work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment with the primary responsibility of supporting software development activities.

 

 
Job Responsibilities:
* Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
* Create and edit website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
* Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
* Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
* Create and maintain software documentation
* Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling web interface based on clients’ requirements
* Cooperate with Software Engineering Project Manager to match visual design intent
* Present ideas or system improvements and new features
 

 

Required Skills:
* Strong knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development
* Familiarity using PHP, MySQL and Front-End Technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, JQuery and API’s)
* Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
* Experience in planning and delivering software used across multiple platforms
* Strong organisational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* A hunger to learn and ability to flourish in a fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
* Familiarity using team collaboration tools such as Slack and Trello are an asset.

Field Service Engineer

Viryl Technologies is in search of an experienced Service and Applications Technician to join our team.  Viryl Technologies is a Toronto based start-up focused on engineering and steering the future of vinyl records. We are partnered with AXYZ International, a globally recognized machine designer and manufacturer.

Responsibilities:

Technical Tasks:

 

  • Develop operator training plans and train new and experienced customers on Viryl’s record pressing equipment.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through service excellence by conducting: installations and modifications, calibration, preventative maintenance, and managing repair/parts cycle times.
  • On-site troubleshooting and resolving complex technical problems with Viryl’s equipment in a manufacturing environment. (able to troubleshoot issues and faults within system)
  • Sets-up and operates the record presses and other metal fabrication machines in the most efficient, and safe manner and in accordance with the Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
  • Observes machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions.
  • Provide 2nd line support to the partner service teams in all aspects of customer support.
  • Strive to develop a very high level of product knowledge and become proficient in service and repair of all systems (current, new, and updates).
  • Documents and reports problems to engineering and production.
  • Updates user documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned from time to time at the discretion of management.

 

Non-Technical Tasks:

 

  • Establish and maintain proper business relationships with customers and peers, as well as performing necessary administrative duties accurately.
  • Manage time effectively; prioritize and make good business judgments and decisions in relationship to efficiency; effectiveness while meeting daily service expectations.
  • Follow all company policies regarding travel, expenses, meetings and meals.
  • Ability to travel extensively and on short notice (must have valid passport and driver’s license)
  • Be completely self-sufficient in the field.

Qualifications/Technical Skills Required:

 

  • Experience with Extrusion, Hydraulics, PLC/Microcontrollers, Pneumatics, Plumbing, Plastics, Process Steam and Chilling systems and/or have an extremely high mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of computer networking.
  • 5+ Years of interfacing with customers in person, over the phone and remotely.
  • Knowledge of wire and cable routing.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, charts, and electrical code specifications.
  • Knowledge of country specific electrical code specifications considered an asset.
  • Experience working with 120V, 240V and 480V systems.
  • Machining experience would be nice to have.
  • Experience writing service, customer and technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of IT connectivity and trouble-shooting.
  • Is able to understand and follow established personal safety, security, and environmental practices. Is knowledgeable of, and compliant with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupation Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate hand tools.
  • Experience pressing records is an asset.

Plant Electrician

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Able to efficiently assemble and wire control panels and HMIs as well as field wiring I/O devices on machines
  • Understand and can follow electrical schematic and layout drawings
  • Working knowledge of PLC controls
  • Experience working with plastic conduit, cable glands, sensors, thermocouples, heaters, and fans
  • Set-up and configure electrical devices.
  • Testing machines – able to follow test instructions and document results
  • Troubleshooting electrical and pneumatic control circuits
  • Arrange and participate in electrical panel inspection.
  • Occasional travel to job sites.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario Electrical Code
  • Strong organizational and communications skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly motivated and adaptable
  • Able to balance priorities and meet deadlines

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years experience
  • Control Panels and Automation: 2+ years
  • Required electrician licence or certification
